ENGLISH 9

This course will focus on improving the writing and communication skills of the students through essays, a research paper, vocabulary, and grammar studies. Students also will read and analyze, from a Christian worldview, a variety of classics in world literature from several genres, including poetry, novels, dramas, and short stories.

Assignments will be given a point value. To determine the class average, these points will be totaled and divided by the total number of points possible. Tests, projects, and essays are worth a possible 100 points each. The final research paper will be worth a possible 200 points. Classwork, quizzes, and homework are worth no more than a possible 50 points each.

Each day, opening exercises will be completed in a spiral or composition notebook. This notebook will be collected twice a quarter and will be worth a possible 100 points each time.
